Property for sale in Almeria region Spain

Tucked into Spain’s southeast corner, between the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, is the Costa de Almeria. This place missed out on the 1960s visitor boom that hit the other Costas because of poor road connections. As a result, it’s now far less touristy than its neighbours. You’ll find laid-back resorts, traditional whitewashed villages and beaches untouched by the holiday-making masses.

The extensive resort here is Roquetas de Mar. It’s a seaside town with a wide belt of golden sand running alongside it. Although it used to be a quiet fishing village, it’s all grown up now – you’ll find everything from swish shopping malls and seafront restaurants to tiny tapas bars and Brit-style pubs.

A hot and dry climate

Due to its geographical location, Almeria climate is a semi-arid Syrian type. Indeed, the hot season is arid, and the average annual temperature is around 19°C.

In winter, the water on the beaches is warmer than the air temperature!

Almeria: a tourist city… and an economic one

If tourism is essential for Spain, the economy is also flourishing. The French group Michelin has set up a tyre production plant here.
